KINOSHO KIKAKU will host the group exhibition “Before Taking Shape” starting February 14, 2026.
Through different materials and techniques—fabric, wood, canvas—emerges the form of an existence that constantly wavers and transforms.
Each work quietly visualizes a sensation that exists just before completion or definition.

【Work Introduction】
The Mushroom Bird series fuses the warmth of camphor wood with the texture of mineral pigments to create fantastical forms. The design, overlaying bird motifs onto mushroom caps, symbolizes the ambiguity of evolution and the metamorphosis of living things, combining fairy-tale playfulness with philosophical depth. Employing the “single-block carving” technique from the late Nara to early Heian periods, each Mushroom Bird captures a unique personality. The use of different woods gives each piece its own distinct texture and aroma.

In April 2023, he held his solo exhibition “YOYOKAIJU” at a local gallery after a six-year hiatus, resuming his activities as a painter. He champions the unique neologism “Deloripop,” blending ‘Delori’ (a term coined by artist Ryusei Kishida) with “pop culture” elements from films, manga, and anime, pursuing an originality unattainable through either alone.
