Statement

Concept
There are natural colors associated by being affiliated within a category like age, sex, occupation and so on. I think it is as varied as looks, appearance, one’s gestures, and wording. Especially in the human body, this information is clearly engraved. When people worry about something, it is creating problems in some parts of the body or might even cause illness, and then a flow of human emotion comes out on one’s face. It is unnecessary to try to hide them, as one cannot escape from nature and the emotions will show through the body. I think the body is more honest than anything else and by aging his inner mind turn to transparent and take shape. From those ideas I am molding a figure, an interest for a human’s body. I am not molding by searching its beauty but I make his self, personality or character from their inner report. This is my working concept of a figure.

About self-portrait
It is often said that my recent works are my look-alike. This is because my recent theme is self-portrait. I will talk a little bit about what I think about self-portrait.
Since we were born, we spent most of the time, at home, with people who resembles ourselves like parents, brothers, or close relationships. So what I recognize as a familiar face is practiced through similarity, I think. For example, a dog resembles his owner or a married couple resembles each other. I think the faces I create always resemble me because I am unconsciously searching for similarity. So when I make a figure, even if there is no theme or if it defines nobody, I make one which resembles me, unconsciously.
It doesn’t matter if what I represent is either male or female, I define it as self-portrait.
